In European Research, Ramses² is what is termed a “Network of Excellence”. Its main aim is to develop a new field of studies and of comparative analysis: “Mediterranean Studies”, thus more specifically to:

• Unite a group of outstanding skills and specialists within the different fields of the Social Sciences and the Humanities and encourage a long-lasting collaboration between the scientific institutions that make up the network, in order to build a Euro-Mediterranean research area.
• Gather existing knowledge and research in the field and the euro-Mediterranean area
• Develop a new field of studies and of comparative analysis: “Mediterranean studies”.
• Promote the publishing and translation of a Euro-Mediterranean collection.
