The role of the publishing and translation secton is to encourage the wide dissemination of the results of the research, in several linguistic and publishing areas and thus allow for a wider circulation of research in human sciences between European and the Mediterranean.
The planned activities are the following:
1.Establishment of a network of publishers of human sciences
The publishers' network was set up to give impetus to publishing and collecting Euro-Mediterranean works. It is the core of the publishing pole. It does not exclude in any way the canvassing of other publishers during the project (see Section 5 for the members list of the publishers’ network).
2.Development of a Euro-Mediterranean collection of texts in human sciences
The collection will include the research works funded by the programme, as well as the works by the publishers of the network that contribute to the dissemination of the RAMSES² programme objectives (see Section 4 for the list of publications).
3.Implementation of a dissemination strategy
Creation of a website (or link on the general RAMSES² website)
To facilitate information sharing, this website gives all members of the RAMSES² network, especially publishers, both members of the network of publishers and non-members interested in the translation of one or more available texts, an overall view of the projects in progress.
This website is intended to continue beyond the end of the programme, since the project's objective is to be the starting point of a long-term dynamic.
Organisation of promotional meetings and events
In order to promote and disseminate the Euro-Mediterranean collection, the publishing and translation section organizes events for the presentation of texts that have been published on the occasion of bookfairs (Cairo, Istanbul, Beirut, Casablanca etc.) or other meetings and events (such as European Capitals of Culture).
The first meeting is in May 2009 in Thessaloniki (Greece) during the International Book Fair (May 28th – 31st, 2009). For more of information on the book fair, where Germany is guest of honor this year and history will be the main theme.
