The Book Observatory The Book Observatory collects and disseminates data relating to: - book economics: Economic studies & research - sociological analyses of reading habits: Social studies & research - the public’s reading habits: Reader behaviour studies - foreign book production: information on foreign book markets.
BIBLIOGRAPHICAL DATABASE BIBLIONET is a bibliographical database that enables a search to be performed of all books published in Greece (or in the process of being published).
BIBLIONET contains 130,000 titles in the Greek language with: - detailed information on the title of the book, author’s name, publisher, subject, ISBN, price, etc. - photograph of the front cover - CV, photograph and list of other works by the author - commercial information about the book (publisher, distributor, central sales, etc.). BIBLIONET also provides free internet services in Greek (http://www.biblionet.gr/) and in English (http://www.greekbooksinprint.gr/, http://www.gbip.gr/).
BIBLIONET SEMINARS Just a few hours of training are sufficient to show professionals the wealth of possibility that the BIBLIONET database offers. Once every three months, depending on demand, seminars are organised for professionals as part of the Book Workshop.

A LIBRARY ABOUT BOOKS (BIBLIOLOGICAL LIBRARY) This is a specialist library which is unique in Greece, with more than 6,000 titles on all issues relating to books (book sales and the book market, publishing, production and techniques, the history of books, etc.).

IN ADDITION Greek authors visit bookshops nationwide EKEBI supports events whereby authors visit bookshops, especially in the provinces, covering their travel and accommodation expenses for five such trips. The rules require that application forms be submitted by the bookshops. Greek authors abroad EKEBI gives Greek authors the chance to travel abroad and present their translated works abroad following an invitation from publishers, universities, cultural associations and so on. Sponsored stays for authors and translators at the House of Literature on Paros.
