Dimitris Philippides studied architecture at the National Technical University of Athens, where he has taught town planning since 1975. From 1964 to 1995, he worked with various firms on architectural and town planning studies. He has written eight books on architecture, and articles and book reviews related to traditional and contemporary Greek architecture. He has also edited special studies and monographs on architects as well as the first six volumes of the series Traditional Greek Architecture (1980-1988).
