Just as they come / they go / and just as they go / they come again / the figures that wounded us / when we loved / the figures that we loved / when we wounded (“Dreams”). Life, nature, art and the way people see them is at the core of Brounias’s writing. With images drawn from past and present depths, reflectively intertwined with axioms and inventions, you again, reading the poems in this collection, peruse time and space in the Greek context after 1950. “Life as weariness, as constant blows, is not ignored, but from underneath there gushes a secret spring of freshness, though not an unsuspecting one, because in its smile can be discerned faint bloodstains.”
