| 02. Παράταση αιτήσεων για συμμετοχή στο πρόγραμμα «Φράσις» του ΕΚΕΒΙ | | Η Επιτροπή του Προγράμματος «Φράσις» του Εθνικού Κέντρου Βιβλίου (ΕΚΕΒΙ) συνεδρίασε στις 13 Μαΐου αποφασίζοντας να παραταθεί έως τις αρχές Ιουνίου η δυνατότητα υποβολής αιτήσεων από ενδιαφερόμενους εκδοτικούς οίκους, φορείς, πνευματικά ιδρύματα και πολιτιστικούς οργανισμούς του εξωτερικού για την επιχορήγηση μεταφράσεων Ελλήνων συγγραφέων. |  |
| 07. Τα Εργαστήρια Βιβλίου του ΕΚΕΒΙ | | Από το Εθνικό Κέντρο Βιβλίου διευκρινίζεται ότι η λειτουργία των Εργαστηρίων Βιβλίου του ΕΚΕΒΙ έχει προς το παρόν ανασταλεί και σε κανέναν δεν έχει παρασχεθεί το δικαίωμα να παρουσιάζεται ως συνεχιστής.
Σχετικά με το θέμα έχει αποσταλεί εξώδικο προς το βιβλιοπωλείο που εμφανίζεται με διαφημίσεις ως συνεχιστής των Εργαστηρίων που επί σειρά ετών λειτούργησαν με επιτυχία από το ΕΚΕΒΙ. | |

Examining the subject matter of fiction set in Athens in the last two decades of the 19th century and the first decade of the 20th, Gotsi finds an array of responses to urbanization. Athens – the burgeoning capital of the newly established modern state – reflected both the prestige of its classical past and the evidence of various new influences.
Writers responded accordingly. Gotsi traces the spectrum, from those who persisted in setting their fiction in the provinces, to those who tackled urban existence with repugnance for the ills that city life brought, while others embraced the new way of life made possible as traditional manners and morals shifted and altered to accommodate metropolitan style.
Reworking her doctoral thesis for general consumption, Gotsi looks at the ‘ailing’ city in the work of Moraitidis, Roidis and Papadiamantis; knowledge of the city in Kondylakis and Mitsakis, art in the city and writers and musicians.
