| 02. Παράταση αιτήσεων για συμμετοχή στο πρόγραμμα «Φράσις» του ΕΚΕΒΙ | | Η Επιτροπή του Προγράμματος «Φράσις» του Εθνικού Κέντρου Βιβλίου (ΕΚΕΒΙ) συνεδρίασε στις 13 Μαΐου αποφασίζοντας να παραταθεί έως τις αρχές Ιουνίου η δυνατότητα υποβολής αιτήσεων από ενδιαφερόμενους εκδοτικούς οίκους, φορείς, πνευματικά ιδρύματα και πολιτιστικούς οργανισμούς του εξωτερικού για την επιχορήγηση μεταφράσεων Ελλήνων συγγραφέων. |  |
| 07. Τα Εργαστήρια Βιβλίου του ΕΚΕΒΙ | | Από το Εθνικό Κέντρο Βιβλίου διευκρινίζεται ότι η λειτουργία των Εργαστηρίων Βιβλίου του ΕΚΕΒΙ έχει προς το παρόν ανασταλεί και σε κανέναν δεν έχει παρασχεθεί το δικαίωμα να παρουσιάζεται ως συνεχιστής.
Σχετικά με το θέμα έχει αποσταλεί εξώδικο προς το βιβλιοπωλείο που εμφανίζεται με διαφημίσεις ως συνεχιστής των Εργαστηρίων που επί σειρά ετών λειτούργησαν με επιτυχία από το ΕΚΕΒΙ. | |

Eugene Trivizas uses humour to pack a punch in The Last Black Cat, his allegory of prejudice and superstition. The narrator, a raggedy alley cat, turns aside from his pursuit of the glamorous Graziella and the temptation of a fish-tavern raid with his mate Choptail to investigate when he witnesses the abduction of a black cat. The mysterious disappearance of black cats from the unnamed island proves to be the work of a ruthless gang bent on making money by selling mousetraps. Using ruthless propaganda to manipulate the superstitions and prejudices of the islanders, a sinister society known as the Guardians of Good Luck, enlists the support of the people and the government in the pogrom it unleashes. Despite the grimness of the subject matter, this is a hilarious story that gives full play to its author’s teeming imagination. A spirited translation by Sandy Zervas renders all the flavour of the Greek original.
