Παράταση αιτήσεων για συμμετοχή στο πρόγραμμα «Φράσις» του ΕΚΕΒΙ | | Η Επιτροπή του Προγράμματος «Φράσις» του Εθνικού Κέντρου Βιβλίου (ΕΚΕΒΙ) συνεδρίασε στις 13 Μαΐου αποφασίζοντας να παραταθεί έως τις αρχές Ιουνίου η δυνατότητα υποβολής αιτήσεων από ενδιαφερόμενους εκδοτικούς οίκους, φορείς, πνευματικά ιδρύματα και πολιτιστικούς οργανισμούς του εξωτερικού για την επιχορήγηση μεταφράσεων Ελλήνων συγγραφέων. |  |
| 07. Τα Εργαστήρια Βιβλίου του ΕΚΕΒΙ | | Από το Εθνικό Κέντρο Βιβλίου διευκρινίζεται ότι η λειτουργία των Εργαστηρίων Βιβλίου του ΕΚΕΒΙ έχει προς το παρόν ανασταλεί και σε κανέναν δεν έχει παρασχεθεί το δικαίωμα να παρουσιάζεται ως συνεχιστής.
Σχετικά με το θέμα έχει αποσταλεί εξώδικο προς το βιβλιοπωλείο που εμφανίζεται με διαφημίσεις ως συνεχιστής των Εργαστηρίων που επί σειρά ετών λειτούργησαν με επιτυχία από το ΕΚΕΒΙ. | |

Nicholas Stavroulakis shares the fruits of his search for the genuine article in West Cretan Cooking. Inspired largely by his reaction against the Greek take on nouvelle cuisine, which he deplores for altering the traditional diet in the attempt to update it, this book explores the ancient and Byzantine origins of Cretan recipes.
First he sets Cretan food in its historical context, explaining the crucial role of geography – the mountains and sea – in determining the Cretan diet. Then he explains the ingredients and describes the recipes. From pork in aspic and pilaf with periwinkles to yoghurt cake and sesame biscuits, these dishes were part of one of the most varied and healthy diets in Europe.
Unusually for a cookbook, there is not a single photo of food: the author, also a printer and painter, has provided his own illustrations that conjure up the beauties of Crete and its natural bounty.
