Fondas Ladis was born in 1943 in Sparta. He worked as a journalist on Greek newspapers and magazines and from 1967 to 1973 he lived in Rome. From 1974 to 1976 he co-edited the periodical Tetradio with Dimitris Ghionis. He has written poetry, fiction, travel, political and historical essays, as well as books for children. His poems have been set to music by noted Greek composers including Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Loizos, Christos Nikolopoulos and Thanos Mikroutsikos. He is a member of the Athens Daily Newspaper Journalists’ Union and the Greek Composers’ and Songwriters’ Union, and a founder and president of the Mnimes Archive and Studies Association.
