Giorgos Skabardonis was born in Thessaloniki in 1953 and studied French language and literature at Aristotle University, Thessaloniki. He worked for newspapers, radio and television, wrote screenplays for television documentaries and co-wrote the script of It’s All A Road with director Pantelis Voulgaris. He was editor of Thessaloniki newspaper and the journals Th-09 (which won the Ipecki Prize),Tamarix and Hilia Dentra. He is now editor of Panselinos art journal and the Sunday edition of Makedonia newpaper, which won the European Newspaper design award. His collection, The Strait of Fabrics, won the State Short Story award in 1993, and Hanging By A Flea won Diavazo's short story award in 2004.
