Robert Manthoulis
 Orpheus’s Remington, Issue No 48

Robert Manthoulis was born in Komotini in 1929. He studied political science and journalism while writing poetry and working in radio and television. From 1949-1953 he studied film direction in the United States. His 1962 film, Hands Up Hitler, brought him unwelcome attention from the dictatorship and he took refuge in Switzerland and Paris, where he worked in television and on documentaries. Following the restoration of democracy he returned to Greece, and became director of state broadcaster ERT in 1975. His most recent film is Lilly’s Story (2002).
