Aris Marangopoulos was born in Athens in 1948. He has published more than ten books (novels, short stories, essays) and has translated many Irish, English and French novels into Greek. As a freelance literary critic he reviews books of modern and contemporary literature for Greek national newspapers. His Ulysses, a Reader’s Companion (Kedros ,2001), aimed both at the general reader and the scholar, is being translated into English.
Aris Marangopoulos is editor in chief of a major Greek publishing house. He is a former member of the International James Joyce Foundation. He is a member of the Hellenic Authors’ Society (and has been its executive secretary for two consecutive terms), and is on the board of the National Book Centre of Greece. He also belongs to several national and European committees on book policy.
