Ioanna Karystiani
 Swell, Issue No 19

Ioanna Karystiani was born in in Hania, Crete, to parents from Asia Minor. She studied law. She has worked as a cartoonist and illustrator at Rizopastis daily newspaper, Tetarto, Ena and Eikones magazines, and foreign newspapers.
The short stories in her collection Mrs Kataki have been performed by four different theatre companies. Her novel Little England won the State Fiction Award in 1998, and Suit in the Ground won Diavazo literary journal’s Fiction Award in 2001.
Karystiani wrote the screenplay for the film Brides.
