Kostas G. Papageorgiou was born in 1945 in Athens, where he still lives. He studied law and Greek language and literature. His first collection of poems came out in 1966. He practised law from 1972 to 1978, and since then has devoted his time to literature.
Over the past 30 years he has contributed to the leading literary journals of Athens and Thessaloniki, including Anti, Lexi, Dentro, Diavazo, Entefktyrio and Tram.
He is co-editor of the literary journal K and publishes reviews in the Sunday issue of Avghi newspaper and in Vivliothiki, the book supplement of Eleftherotypia newspaper.
He has worked for Greek State Radio since 1982, first as a literary advisor and subsequently as an editor for literary programmes and events for the Third Programme. Since 1990, he has taught history of theatre and literature at Athens Odeion drama school.
He has published ten collections of poems, four books of prose and four volumes of criticism and essays.
He won the State Award for Poetry (2000) and Diavazo’ s poetry Prize (2000).
