Nikos Houliaras
 Water on the Face, Issue No 13

Nikos Houliaras was born in 1940 in Giannena. He graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts and is an eminent painter. From 1965 to 1970 he was involved in music, writing many songs that were performed with great success by himself and other well-known singers. He was the first to adapt folk songs and present Epirote songs to Athenian audiences.
He began writing in 1962 and has published poems, prose and articles about art in periodicals.
His books Painting – Texts and The Snow I Knew won the first (1981) and third (1984) awards respectively for the best designed books at the Leipzig Book Fair.
Short stories of his have been translated into several languages and have been adapted for television.
O Lousias was made into a television serial broadcast by Greek state television ET-1 in 1989.
His book In the House of My Enemy was a candidate for the 1996 European Aristeio Award for literature.
