Neni Efthymiadi was born in Athens in 1946. She studied law at Thessaloniki University and became a lawyer in Athens in 1970. She has been writing fiction since 1973. She has published nine novels and contributed short fiction to many anthologies. Her short stories, essays and articles frequently appear in the daily press and literary journals. She occasionally writes profiles of Greek and foreign writers. She has translated essays from French, German and English, and poetry by Pulitzer Prize winner William Meredith. Some of her works have become the subject of study at universities, congresses and theoretical publications. Since 1992 she has been a board member of the Panhellenic Cultural Movement where she is jointly responsible for organizing events related to literature, theory and contemporary issues.
