Zyranna Zateli was born in 1951 in Thessaloniki. After attending drama school and working as an actor, chiefly on radio, she devoted herself to writing. Her 1993 novel With the Light of the Wolf, They Return, has been translated into Dutch, French, German, Italian and Lithuanian. Stories of hers have been translated into several languages and published in anthologies and literary journals.
