Giorgis Pavlopoulos (1924-2008) was born in Pyrgos, Ilias. He studied law at Athens University without completing the course, and worked as an accountant and secretary in the private sector. His poems first appeared in 1943 in Odyssey, a review published by friends in Pyrgos. Since then his work has appeared in many Greek and foreign publications and anthologies, and his work has been translated into numerous languages. He collaborated with Takis Sinopoulos on jointly written experimental poems. He was active in cultural activities in Greece and abroad, and was a founder member of the Hellenic Society of Authors.
