Maria Efstathiadi was born in Athens in 1949. She studied political science at Athens University and political sociology in Paris. She worked for two years for the Greek edition of Le Monde Diplomatique and has collaborated with Patras International Festival, Athens Concert Hall, the Orchestra of Colours, Thesssaloniki International Film Festival, the State Theatre of Northern Greece, and Athens Festival. She has been on the boards of the National Book Centre of Greece, the European Translation Centre, and the European Centre of Delphi. A member of the Hellenic Society of Authors, the Society of Playwrights, and the Panhellenic Society of Professional Translators, she also represents Greece on the European TER network for the promotion of contemporary plays. Her work has been translated into several languages and extracts from it have been published in periodicals and anthologies in Greece and abroad.
