Kostas Tsiropoulos was born in Larissa in 1930. He studied law in Thessaloniki and art history in Paris and Barcelona. He founded the Christian Symposium annual (1966-1971) and Efthyni magazine (1961-66 and since 1972). He has published scores of works including poetry, prose and essays, and his work has been translated into the major European languages. The numerous awards he has won include the State Short Story Award (1966), the State Novel Award (1979) the Athens Academy Ouranis Award (1986) and the State Literature Prize (2006). He has translated many books from Spanish, Catalan and French into Greek.
