Panagiotis Kousathanas was born on Mykonos in 1945 and still lives there. He studied English and Greek literature at Athens University and worked for twenty years as a secondary school teacher. He has published 21 books of poems, short stories and texts about the culture and history of his native island, and he has translated poetry from the English. His first book, Patchwork of Dreams (1980), a collection of poems, won the Maria P. Ralli prize, and his book Ravings: Texts about the Culture and History of Mykonos (pub. Indiktos 2002), won a State Literary Award.
