First comes sorrow and then the others, sometimes its subjects and sometimes its objects; people who multiply only as shadows in Papageorgiou’s poetic world. However, it is a sorrow that makes no distinction between the animate and inanimate, but which takes root in objects and in words, in the ink that acts and in the paper that remains silent, as the poet underlines in one of his aphorisms. In this collection, Papageorgiou creates an intermediate world between light and darkness, between sleeping and waking, between pain and pleasure and between life and death. He experiments with words that hold him together and dissolve him at any moment, through constant transformations of the materials that test the limits of their representations, through images that tenderly portray the gruesome, the white that embraces the black in an acceptance of co-dependence, of the painful dialectics between the word and the world.
