Life is getting Leto down. The 15-year-old narrator adores reading but hates school. Her parents love her but they drive her crazy too. Her only outlets are listening to her cousin Mikis and his friends play in their band and a growing friendship with her schoolmate Vassilis, who grew up in Scotland. Stubborn and self-willed, Leto insists on doing everything her own way. With the help of cello lessons and an unexpectedly likable tutor for hated extra lessons in science, she makes progress that satisfies her and her mother. Angelos, another classmate, becomes part of the gang, and Leto’s reactions to the two boys lead her to try and understand where friendship and romance meet and overlap. Then a tragic event puts her relationship with Vassilis to the test. Hara Yiannakopoulou successfully conveys the voice of a teenager facing real-life joys and challenges while learning to find her own path.
