The Invisible Crowd
 Manolis Pratikakis

69pp.
Kastaniotis, 2007
ISBN: 960-03-4568-6
ISBN13: 978-960-03-4568-1

Pratikakis’ sixteenth collection of poetry focuses on a theme to be found throughout his work and succinctly expressed in the line: The poet: a child forcefully expelled from his childhood. The Invisible Crowd is the crowd of children who, huddled and forgotten in the depths of the souls and memories of adults, at times strive to emerge into the light of their adult lives. The constant oscillation between the loss of a childhood paradise and the endeavour to regain it, albeit fleetingly, underlies these poems. Pratikakis’s relationship with this childhood paradise remains that of the devoted relationship of the faithful with the miracle of time’s indivisibility. His poetic diction remains, as always, powerful, sensual and deeply lyrical.
