On the Sublime by Longinus is the most important and best-known work of criticism from Greek antiquity after Aristotle’s Poetics.
Later, intellectuals and writers such as Boileau and Milton emphasised the importance of this work. A forerunner of comparative literature, On the Sublime focuses on literariness. This interpretative edition by Michalis Kopidakis has become the standard reference on the work in Greece.
