Orpheus’s Remington
 Robert Manthoulis

232pp.
Pyli, 2009
ISBN: 978-960-7041-24-1

Orpheus is a Greek writer who has lived in Paris for many years. One evening he goes out in search of his wallet, which he recalls having left in the boot of his car, parked near the Louvre. But when he opens the boot, he finds instead the dead, half-naked body of Moira. She and her sisters, Ida and Liza, who share a taste for sexual experimentation, have all been in love with the hero since childhood. The attempt to find the killer will involve police inspector Martinez, as well as a psychoanalyst who studies crimes committed by sleepwalkers, and a prostitute who plies her trade in the Bois de Boulogne. Noted Greek documentary filmmaker Robert Manthoulis blends the imaginary and the real in his first crime novel, Orpheus’s Remington, where the hero’s typewriter acquires a living presence, and psychosexual analysis plays an important part in solving the crime.
