There’s anger in the air when Father Bear throws a tantrum because he doesn’t like the honey Mother Bear has served for breakfast. Makis goes off to school in a grouchy mood, fists clenched, kicking rubbish bins, ready to pick a fight. It doesn’t take him long to find one. A classmate teases him when Makis asks a question about spelling and the two come to blows later in the schoolyard. Makis is hauled before the headmaster with his parents, prompting a violent outburst from his father. The only way the little bear knows how to get attention is by being aggressive, until he encounters a drum kit, a wise music teacher and a creative outlet for his aggression. The other children, who used to fear and tease him, begin to admire his talent instead. Spiros Gousis’ illustrations are a perfect match to a story that addresses a common problem.
