Midnight Sun

Midnight Sun is a brief report by journalist Maria Karavia on Scandinavia, seen in typical Greek fashion. The writer compares everything she sees in Sweden, Finland and Denmark with Greece. In some cases, she allows Greek migrants in those countries to make the comparisons while she keeps a certain distance and adopts a more critical stance toward the views they express.
Her approach is useful precisely because it reveals the diffidence with which earlier generations of Greeks viewed the Other.
