Something Strange is Happening Tonight
 Fotini Stefanidi

Written & illustrated by Fotini Stefanidi
87pp.
Livanis, 2006
ISBN: 960-14-1330-8
ISBN13: 978-960-14-1330-3

Strange noises issue from the attic of a tall, narrow house one night as young Panos fills his bag with an odd assortment of objects. What can he want with a piggy bank, a swing, a pumpkin, or even a bicycle to which he has attached feathers? Talented illustrator and author Fotini Stefanidi sends her hero on an imaginative mission that weaves characters and moments from fairy tale classics into a playful new story.
As Panos visits Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White and other favourite characters, two stories unfold side by side. On the left-hand page, we see him arrive by different means of transport – swing, star and watermelon boat – and deliver an envelope to each character in turn. Their stories appear on the right-hand page as excerpts from a book. Ingenious illustrations linking both sides carry everything forward to a grand New Year’s party. And it’s all in verse.
