Obsession with Spring
 Aris Marangopoulos

413pp.
Ellinika Grammata, 2006
ISBN: 960-442-644-3
ISBN13: 978-960-442-644-7

The residents of an Aegean island live an idyllic existence in Obsession with Spring. They never watch television, don’t open their shops till after midnight and detest tourism. Behind the islanders’ unconventional way of life in this seeming paradise is a very charming, sexy woman who just happens to be involved with a Greek terrorist network that uses France as its base. The woman is a link to Stratis Tsirkas’s novel Lost Spring, which deals with the post-war period that was so crucial to contemporary Greek political history, and her character is part of an ongoing conversation with that book.
In his latest novel, Aris Marangopoulos brings to life the historical conditions that led to the birth and development of terrorism in contemporary Greece. Exploring the world of the last remaining terrorists and the frustration of all their goals, he builds up a convincing psychological portrait of a terrorist’s personality.
