Writer and illustrator Sofia Zarambouka was born in Athens. She studied painting and theatre in Greece and graphic art and illustration in the US. She is best known for her adaptation of Ancient Greek works for children, and her books are used widely in nursery and elementary schools. Her work has won distinctions in Greece and abroad, notably the 1982 Ouranis Prize from the Athens Academy for her compete oeuvre.
