Dimitris Papadopoulos was born in Naxos in 1965. On leaving school at 16 he began his career under leading chefs at Symposio restaurant. Two years later he went to Athens where he learnt pastry-making at Dolce in Kolonaki. He and his brother Yiannis opened a patisserie. He now lives on Naxos and appears in the media to promote the island's cuisine. In 1990, he won an award for his presentation of Naxian cuisine at the Philoxenia fair in Thessaloniki.
