Orestis Alexakis was born in Corfu in 1931. He studied law and practised as a lawyer until 1991. During the dictatorship in Greece he went into voluntary exile in West Germany, and now spends most of his time on his native island. He has published eight volumes of verse, and his literary essays and reviews have appeared in the periodical press.
