Vassilis Papatsarouchas was born in Athens in 1975. He studied painting and graphic arts at the Athens School of Fine Arts. His paintings, installations, and video art have appeared in group exhibitions. He has illustrated more than 25 books, three of them his own texts. In 2003 he won an honourable mention from the Greek branch of IBBY for his illustrations of The Mystery of the Drought by Kostas Haralas. In 2004 he won first prize from the Greek branch of IBBY for his illustrations of Chryssoula by Lila Patroklou, and the 2004 State Award for his illustrations of Little Riding Hood, adapted by Argyro Kokoreli. In 2008 he was a candidate for the Andersen Award.
