A poet, translator, critic and currently the Greek ambassador to Khartoum, Veis writes in the first person, in confessional style, never concealing his subjectivity, aware that he can only express his own sensitivities. He readily returns to subjects he has covered in earlier books, convinced that revisiting them always highlights, however subtly, a different aspect of his response.
