Nikolas Andrikopoulos was born in Athens in 1955. He studied graphic arts at the Applied Technology Centre in Athens, graduating in 1976. Since 1993 he has been absorbed in the world of children’s literature. He has exhibited his illustrations at many locations in Greece and abroad, including Athens, Bologna, Tokyo, Belgrade and Bratislava. His work has won numerous awards, including first prize at an international exhibition of illustrators in Tehran in 1993, and first prize for his poster for the 25th anniversary of the Greek Children’s Book Circle in 1994. He was included in the 1998 IBBY Honour List for his book Arthur the Bear. In 2002 he was Greece’s candidate for the Andersen prize for illustration.
