Maria Cakouri-Voudouroglou was born in Patras in 1923 to parents from Kefallonia who were great lovers of beauty. During the war she went to Athens where she studied at the French Institute, the School of Fine Arts and with the artist Yannis Tsarouchis’s group. Later she studied art at the Gothenberg School of Decorative Arts in Sweden.
She has illustrated 51 children’s books, magazines for children, Christmas cards and a collection of Greek wildflowers. She has also worked for television.
